  1. Handbag Shape, Size & Proportion from www.artfulwears.com

Many women are aware that proportions are very important in fashion for clothes, but did you know they are also important for handbags? The proper bag can actually make you look THINNER! Ok, so now that I have everyone’s attention let’s discuss this burning topic. We are going to run down a list of handbags do’s and don’ts for you.

First, let’s talk about shape. If you are broad woman, that doesn’t necessarily mean fat, you want to think about longer shaped bags. The longer bag will create a longer illusion on the body, balancing out your width. The Velvet Slouchy Bag By Deux Lux is a perfect example of a longer (rather than wider) bag, or a north/south handbag. You could even do something a little more narrow.

For those women who are more narrow and are looking to add a bit of volume to their figure, we suggest a wider, and perhaps fuller bag. Again, the width of the bag will counteract the narrowness of your frame. The Metallic Textured Bag by Deux Lux is the type of shape we are referring to or some would call the shape east/west.

Next is proportion, generally speaking EVERYTHING you wear should be proportionate to your body size and stature. Taller and larger women really shouldn’t carry tiny bags. They simply get lost on a larger body. In fact, not only do they get lost, they can make you look larger. It’s kind of like at 5′2, I look MUCH shorter standing next to Magic Johnson than I do next to my Mother! That doesn’t mean you can’t carry a clutch, but we do suggest going for a larger clutch. Handbag designers have truly expanded your options by making clutch of all sizes and particularly oversized ones this season.

For petite, smaller frame, and shorter women, you want to go with a smaller bag. That would seem obvious after the last rule huh? A large or oversized handbag can swallow you up. You certainly don’t have to carry something teeny tiny but don’t go for the largest bag you can find.

Ladies, I am truly sorry if I rained on your parade. I know that you thought handbags one of the few items that fit everybody. However, you still have plenty of options. Next time you shop for a handbag, keep these things in mind. Certainly we are not telling that you can never stray from these rules, they are simply the ideal options.

  5. 4 things to note before you buy wool

    1. Heat and water shrink wool.

    Fact or fiction?
You know how it is. That wool sweater fitted you perfectly before you put it in the wash. Hot soapy water got rid of the dirt. But now, that sweater is far too tight. Did you gain weight or did the sweater shrink?

The truth is, wool felts, not shrinks.
Wool appears to shrink because of shingles. When wet and exposed to heat, these shingles or scales on the surface of the wool fibers will overlap and lock together, causing the impression of shrinkage. Wool that has been chemically 'descaled' to allow safe machine wash without shrinkage are labelled super wash. Basically, chlorine is used to burn off the scales so it wouldn't appear to shrink.

    2. Preshrunk wool can safely be machine washed.
Hey, preshrunk means the wool has already shrunk and can't get smaller, so it can be tossed into the washing machine without fear of shrinkage right?

Back to the technical aspects of wool processing. Preshrinking the wool means wetting the wool and then rolling it along a steel tube and having it pounded with wooden clappers. This causes the fibers to lock up. This is the fulling process which gets the wool in the optimum thickness for warmth, breathability and ability to repel water.

Machine washing the wool is at your own risk as it affects the balance reached in the fulling process. There is a chance it could shrink further in the wash.

    3. Wool is scratchy.
That statement is both true and false. It depends on what kind of wool. The shorter fibers, like the ones used in woolens are not usually combed to lie flat. When you think of scratchy wool, army blankets come to mind.

Not all wool is scratchy. Wool fabrics made of longer fibers of combed fabrics are a lot more comfortable.

Merino wool is an interesting type of wool as it is far finer than regular wool. The scales are hence much smaller. The larger scales on regular wool can scratch the skin like barbs. With merino wool, the scales are much smaller, hence merino wool is more comfortable, less scratchy to wear. In fact. It even feels like silk.

    4. Wool repels water
True and false. The outer part of wool repels water. That is true. The inner part, however, absorbs water. Still, compared to cotton, wool is absorbs less moisture from the air, hence wool blankets are far better than water-thirsty cotton blankets in damp places.

Tote Shopping Bag - Big and Practical

    ReplyDelete
  8. hiveandco.com now heres a site that entertains as well as selling to us...

Oh dear, it's January, the longest, greyest month of the year. Great. As if it wasn't bad enough that your mind's being tortured by thoughts of new year resolutions and how much weight you've put on over Christmas, then you realise your bank balance is looking a lot sparser than it normally would this time of the month.

But you still need that shopping treat. That's where a little handbag delight comes in. Handbags. They don't nag at you to go to the gym. They don't tut disapprovingly if you dip into the leftover Quality Street more than twice in five minutes. They don't raise their eyebrows when you ask for a glass of white wine in the pub and mutter under their breath "thought you were on a detox...”. You can also get yourself a new handbag safe in the knowledge that you don't need to get a bigger size this time round.

Thank heavens. Handbags are a fail-safe way to feel good at this time of year. "Oh but money Helen, money's the problem" I hear you cry. Only if you're an A-lister. A recent article by the Daily Mail worked out that last year Kylie spent £9,685 on handbags. Colleen Mcloughlin spend £19,280 on handbags in 2007. Sienna Miller spent £8,476, and our old friend Posh spent a whopping £23, 625. That's in one year.

Now let's face it, for us that's a down payment on a mortgage and we do not have the time or the patience to save up for the kind of designer labels that these girls can get their hands on in a snap. But does that mean we go without style and sophistication hanging from the crooks of our arms? No it does not.

Take the exclusive and individual Marcella bag. Posh would kill to get her hands on this kind of style. And at £30, you can laugh your way into 2008. Or the Annalisa, a steal at £23, which'll add colour to any grey January day and still give you change for a Grande Skinny Latte (hold the sprinkles, I'm being good). And for a really expensive look without the price tag, try the Paloma, and get people gasping at how you can afford such up-to-date elegance. Little do they know it only costs £25.

  12. I am 23 years old and am about to graduate college. As security meets casual, I am stuck...in jeans, flip flops or my oh-so-comfortable, anti-boot, but very cool Ugg shoes. I would consider myself to be fashionaly comfortable. What I wear feels nice, it's fine for a day of sitting, listening to lecture...I have my designer jeans and semi-designer tops (and by that I mean leisurely, laid-back fashion i.e. Project E, Michael Stars, etc...) all of this seems to me juvenile and representative of a period in my life that has been, well, appropriate for the moment. Now, I am going to start interviewing and going for my first career oriented job. I have great sweaters and blouses, trousers (no pant suits) and some relatively fashionable shoes (I prefer flats). What would be suggested for my new wardrobe? What are the basic, must-have pieces that would transform me from college pro to career amateur (all the while looking quite professional, of course)? This is a question, not quite a fashion statement. Mine is not founded on insecurities, but rather, the need to, yet again, reinvent what it means to have an individualistic style.

  14. Yeah, Britney wears it. So what? Ed Hardy hoodies are da sh..ut your mouth! I'm just talking about Ed Hardy. They great thing about these hoodies - the more worn in they get the better they end up looking. I would definitely recommend a darker color like gray as you will have to be careful how many times you wash it. Where to buy? www.thedenimspa.com once again had the best prices around. I have a personal hook up so, I haven't actually bought anything from them yet, but it seems to be too good to be true.

  15. Induction Cooker - Hot in China Kitchenware Market

Gas Price High in China - A Better Alternative is Induction Cooktop

Now the fast rhythm of life and the pursuit of leisure comfort are welcomed by the young (people, many of them consider an induction cooking unit as a device combing convenience, health and economy. So they are increasingly invented to the kitchen in china.

The sales performance of Induction Cooking Unit is promising and got great market potential. In the recent gas price increases, Induction Cooktop turns out to be a "new favorites”.

Not Mainstream in Kitchenware Industry Right Now - But Got Big Potential

Induction cooking is not some radical new technology: it has long been widely used around the world. But, for some reason (perhaps a lack of adequate information and explanation), when first introduced to North America some years ago it never quite caught on. Till quite recently, few outside professional circles had even heard of it, and those who had were often confused about just what it is. But, more or less all of a sudden, that is finally changing. Indeed, Kitchenware Manufacturers familiar with the field are suggesting that within five to ten years induction cooktops may almost completely capture the field for new installations, worldwide.
With recent improvements in technology, induction-cooking equipment is now better than ever while yet being more affordable than ever.

Psychological Obstacles Preventing Chinese People Using this Kitchen Implements

There are two major factors that seem not to be good news to the induction cooktop industry. Traditionally, Chinese Like Big Fire, Not Quite Used to The Frying Pan with Electric Power, and they are also afraid of the the Heat Radiation Problem, which are not stated clearly in any authorized paper. So the idea of heat radiation is vague, people wonder the quality of the induction cooktop and worried that if it would do harm to their health.

Quality Testing - Lacking National Standard for Radiation Problem

Induction cooking unit radiation parameters are not yet compulsory national accreditation standards.

It is understood that for domestic induction cooking unit to enter EU, American and other markets, it must go through some local authentication, such as the European Union CE, Germany GS, electronics, room CB, American ETL certification. With the certification, the market is "Pass". Currently, only a few brands for export induction cooktop will enforce international standards.

For the domestic market, consumers should "polish" the eyes, weigh the merits and selectively buying. Under the existing national standardized management system, our GB are not keeping pace with the pace of international standard. IEC standards have not been developed. The consumer should better choose some well-know brand in china to better avoid the quality problem.

For purchasing on line, you could check the Kitchenware Directory and looking for the qualified China Kitchenware Manufacturers.

  18. Let’s face it, every parent wants their kid to look good and unique. By unique, I mean not like all the other kids. Choosing the right baby clothes can be bewildering since there are so many cute choices out there. Many factors come into play when deciding on baby apparel as well. Parents will want a little bit of everything, from practical to lavish. On some levels, a baby wardrobe can be similar in range to your own, just at a smaller scale. New parents also need to think about further down the road. Are you going to have more babies? “Hand me down” clothing is a wonderful thing. You might as well get some good well made clothes for your first baby that will last through a progression of infants.

The most frustrating part about picking baby apparel is that the transition from infant to toddler happens so fast, it’s as if it occurs overnight. You need to think about the coming months and prepare that closet for the first year. Most infant clothes are sized by months. In their first year of life, babies will go through three sets of everything: 0 to 3 months,
    3 to 6 months, and 6 to 12 months.

The three “S” factors to consider when choosing baby clothes are Sensible, Sleep wear, and Showing off. You will want your baby to have some sensible clothes in his wardrobe, things that you will be able to tolerate getting a few mashed carrots on. Some simple onesies and a few funny baby t shirts fit this category. Black onesies are a good choice for their uniqueness, gender neutrality, and stain stealthiness. Black rock and roll onesies fit nicely into the showing off category as well. If you want your baby to be a rock star, that is.

Sleep wear is important because infants spend a lot of time sleeping (if you’re lucky). Putting her in some comfortable baby pajamas could be the key to success when dealing with a fussy baby that won’t sleep. Also consider the ease of changing the diaper. It’s a lot easier to just unsnap a onesie or pajama bottom to get at that stinky diaper than it is to fully disrobe the baby.

Showing off your beautiful baby is one of the best aspects of being a baby’s parent. When you go out into the world, you’ll definitely want some unique clothes for baby. Your baby has his own personality, and it’s your job as a parent to let that personality shine! If you have some of those unique baby gifts from the baby shower, this is the time to use them! Dressing your infant to the nines can be the most difficult facet of baby fashion, simply because the baby will always soon need a fresh diaper, whether you’re at the mall or a cocktail party, the child will poop at the least convenient time and place. Choose apparel that makes a diaper change easy.

One final thought on baby clothes is photography. Your baby will grow so fast, some of those cute baby shower gifts may not even get used! When you have your child dressed up, take some pictures! You’ve got to think about the future, when he’s a teenager and wearing punk rock t shirts and the days of cute baby soft onesies are a distant memory. You’ll want to pull out some of those old pictures and reminisce. Also, consider where your child might be headed. What if he landed on the set of Saturday Night Live in 20 years? Wouldn’t it be great if you had pictures of him as an infant in a funny Boob Man onesie, making a face for the camera? What if your baby girl ends up on American Idol in years to come? Wouldn’t it be brilliant if you could pull out a baby picture of her in a Rock Star onesie?
    Think about the possibilities…

  20. Enjoy Self-Made Coffee at Home

There are both voices about drinking coffee, generally, people think it’s not so healthy as Chinese green tea. But coffee got its own magic, its irresistible flavor and smell that will intrigue you right away.

I suggest you bring a coffee maker home and make coffee yourself, since the coffee beans would emit so great scent to bring you good mood. You won’t experience the scent only if you make coffee yourself. It’s a great joy too.

Apart from all those bad talks about coffee, For most of us, the humble cup of coffee is simply a harmless and enjoyable way to kick-start the day or give us an excuse for some time out. No more, no less. However, it is important to remember that different people exhibit different tolerance levels to caffeine—it is, after all, a drug.

So, while a mid-morning cappuccino will give one person a pleasant buzz, it could make another person edgy and irritable. To play it safe, it's best to err on the side of caution. Whatever your choice—espresso or latte—keep a watch on your consumption for the sake of both your short-term and long-term health.

As a typical Chinese girl who not so familiar with the western coffee culture, I got so much to learn about coffee, as to its different style, coffee beans knowledge, and those gadgets for making coffee.

I just started the self-made coffee adventurer a short time ago, for adding some interesting expectations to ordinary life, I think it did the effort, and my family together enjoy the coffee time. It’s not all about drinking coffee, it’s about giving leisure time for yourself, to enjoy life.

I would learn more about the beans now, and find the best area to buy them, some famous beans are not so easy to get, since Chinese are not quite depend on the coffee culture, it’s only been a popular experience among the younger people just like me, those elder ones such as my parents, they are not drinking coffee very often.

Bring a chic coffee mug, release your Necktie and change a casual Pants, start to enjoy your nice self-made coffee time.
